Astudy by LiveCareer UK, a trusted online CV builder, highlights the growing scale of the modern quarter-life crisis. According to its Quarter-Life Crisis Report, around 1 million UK workers aged 25 to 29 are currently experiencing symptoms of depression. The findings suggest this may be linked to a combination of careerrelated factors, including workplace stress, job dissatisfaction and the rising cost of living.

Rather than a fleeting phase, this crisis is fundamentally reshaping the workforce, pushing the average age of a career switch to 31 as young professionals seek better pay and work / life balance.
• Over 1 million UK workers aged 25 – 29 are estimated to experience symptoms of depression, fuelled by workplace stress and financial anxiety.
• Nearly half of Gen Z and Millennial workers report financial insecurity, with over 50 % living pay cheque to pay cheque, increasing career pressures.
• Twenty-nine percent of 25 – 34-year-olds took time off in the past year due to mental health issues caused by stress.
• Twenty-six percent of workers are actively considering a career change, with 31 emerging as the average age to switch professions.
• Sixty percent of workers now name work / life balance as their top priority when choosing a new role.
The quarter-life crisis is increasingly shaping employee attitudes and early career choices. Many young workers, particularly fresh graduates, feel pressured to accept roles that don’ t align with their long-term ambitions.
