Because if someone is seen as not quite fitting, it becomes easier to question whether they are also not quite credible.

This is rarely explicit. It does not need to be.

It sits underneath how people are received, how seriously they are taken, how much weight their contribution is given, and over time people become aware of that link and adjust in order to avoid the friction that comes with stepping outside of it.

The Perfectionist aligns with what looks right and works to maintain it.

The People Pleaser aligns with what feels acceptable and works to sustain it.

The Persecutor of Self questions whether stepping outside of that is worth the risk.

And the Persecutor of Others reinforces the boundary when someone else does.

None of this requires instruction.
