Describe your current job role .
I ’ m the CEO at LearnUpon , a pioneering learning
management system ( LMS ) company , which I also co-founded . My Co-founder , Des Anderson , and I developed LearnUpon because we believe that great learning is key to great business results . Building and running a business was a huge learning curve , but after more than a decade , I ’ m extremely proud of the company we ’ ve built . We ’ ve achieved substantial growth and established the business as a leader in the LMS landscape – and kept the customer at the heart of our business throughout .
What would you describe as your most memorable achievement ?
There are so many key moments like signing our very first customer , celebrating our 1,000th and reaching 100 employees are definitely highlights . But if I had to choose the most meaningful , it would be our very first customer conference , LearnUpon Connect .
From the beginning , we ’ ve aimed to be more than just a software provider . Our vision has always been to build a community where learning leaders can connect , collaborate and grow . Hosting a conference was a dream we ’ d held since day one .
While the pandemic delayed our plans , we finally launched LearnUpon Connect in 2022 . Meeting our customers in person , sharing insights and watching our vision for a community of learning leaders come to life was truly unforgettable .
What style of management philosophy do you employ with your current position ?
As a leader in a learning tech company , I believe management should embody the principles of growth and development . For us , learning isn ’ t just about our product ; it ’ s ingrained in our culture . We ’ re committed to equipping our employees with the training and tools they need to thrive and evolve in their roles .
But it doesn ’ t stop there . Trust is another cornerstone of our philosophy . We encourage our team to take bold risks , experiment with new ideas and learn from the outcomes . Transparency is equally vital . Every month , we host an all-hands meeting where we share key updates , celebrate wins and reflect on challenges . This openness fosters a culture where people feel truly valued and empowered .
To keep a pulse on our team ’ s wellbeing , we conduct bi-annual employee surveys – one at year ’ s end and a mid-year pulse check . These help us ensure we ’ re aligned with our company culture and address what matters most to our employees . It ’ s these values – learning , trust and transparency – that keep our team inspired and engaged .
