Mark Onisk is the Chief Content Officer at Skillsoft . He oversees the company ’ s overall content library and strategy , its curriculum roadmap and the original content studios , alliances and partnerships that support the development of Skillsoft ’ s content library .
Here , Onisk provides insight into the business , how he ’ s overseen its growth and the skill shortage in today ’ s workforce .
Can you tell us more about the digital learning solutions Skillsoft offers ?
Our offerings cut across three different segments : leadership development and business skills , technology and developer and compliance and workforce safety . The products are similar in terms of what the customer buys . The product features a blend of content assets including video-based courses , digital books , audio content , hands-on practice labs and live instruction . These content assets can be sequenced into a curriculum or individual learning paths . The company ’ s learning experience platform , Percipio , also allows customers to customise and add their own content to their respective learning paths . The products are sold as a subscription model – very similar to Netflix or Hulu .
We also have a digital coaching offering , which then complements our e-learning products , as we can take our curriculum offerings and augment within real-time coaching so learners can meet with a coach once a month , set a development plan , get feedback from your peers and then recommend the right content that will help you be more effective at work .
We also have a library of digital books that we curate within our offering . If people want to go deep on a topic , then they can . We have a library of 30,000 digital books , books , summaries and audiobooks – many available in different languages .

As CCO , how have you overseen the growth of these offerings ? The market has continued to evolve and change significantly since I ' ve been in the industry , but especially over the last five years . I ' ve seen more consumer brands start to come into the B2B space . I think the pandemic accelerated this . In the 2010s , e-learning was largely viewed as supplemental , vs . a true alternative to classroom-based learning . A lot of high-stakes learning was done in-person in the classroom and that was just how the world
